Java Programming & DSA

Programming & DSA

A 12-week live program that builds complete command of Java, from the JVM and object-oriented design to collections, streams and concurrency, and then applies it to the data structures and algorithms that technical interviews and placement tests are built around.

  • 3 months · 12 weeks

Program overview

Java, taught the way the industry uses it

Java runs enterprise back-ends, banking and payment systems, Android apps and large-scale distributed platforms. It is also one of the languages most widely accepted in coding interviews and campus placement tests, because its strong typing and rich standard library make algorithms clear and precise to express.

This program has two connected halves. In the first half you master the language itself: how the JDK, JRE and JVM fit together, the full object-oriented toolkit, exception handling, generics, the Collections Framework, modern Java features (lambdas, the Streams API and Optional), file I/O, multithreading and database access with JDBC. In the second half you use that Java to learn data structures and algorithms in depth: complexity analysis, recursion and backtracking, sorting and searching, linked lists, stacks, queues, hashing, trees, heaps, graphs, greedy techniques and dynamic programming.

Every concept is taught live on Google Meet. A typical session moves from the reasoning behind a feature or algorithm, to live coding, to guided practice where you write and test the code yourself. Weekly assignments and timed problem sets build fluency, and a sequence of projects ensures you can apply each skill to working software.

By the end of the program you will have a GitHub portfolio of Java projects, a capstone that combines a complete application with a reviewed DSA problem set, and a clear, repeatable method for approaching coding interviews. The same curriculum, projects, support and certificate apply to every learner, wherever in the world you join from.

Ask to be notified

Class conduct. Live class links are personal and must not be shared. Recording sessions, distributing screenshots or redistributing course materials is not permitted. If a recording of a particular session is made available, it is for your personal study only — not every session is recorded, so please plan to attend live. See our Terms & Conditions.

Certification & assessment

Certificate of Completion

Learners who complete the course requirements receive a Certificate of Completion from AwT Academy for the Java program. The certificate is issued in the name you provide at registration, so please enter it exactly as you want it to appear.

Requirements

  • At least 75% attendance in live sessions.
  • Submission of the required assignments.
  • Submission of the final (capstone) project.

How you are assessed

  • Weekly assignments: practical exercises checked for correctness, code quality and understanding.
  • Project reviews: feedback on design, readability, error handling and Git practice for each portfolio project.
  • Capstone evaluation: assessment of scope, functionality, tests, documentation and your live demonstration and walkthrough.

The Certificate of Completion confirms that you have completed this AwT Academy program and its requirements. It is not an academic degree or a government-issued qualification. Your project portfolio, which you keep, is often the most persuasive evidence of your skills.

Career pathways

Where Java and DSA can take you

Java and strong problem-solving skills are a foundation for many technical roles. This program prepares you for entry-level opportunities and further specialization in the directions below. Outcomes depend on your own effort, practice and the job market; career guidance and interview preparation are provided, but job placement is not.

Java Developer

Building and maintaining Java applications and services in product and services companies.

Back-end Developer

Designing APIs and business logic; the natural next step is a framework such as Spring Boot.

Software Engineer (product roles)

Roles where interviews focus heavily on data structures, algorithms and clean code.

Android & JVM Developer

Java fundamentals transfer to Android development (alongside Kotlin) and to other languages and tools in the JVM ecosystem.

What interviewers typically test

  • OOP principles and how you apply them to a design problem
  • Collections internals: how HashMap, ArrayList and TreeMap work
  • Exceptions, immutability, String behavior and JVM memory basics
  • Multithreading fundamentals and common concurrency pitfalls
  • Coding problems on arrays, strings, trees, graphs and dynamic programming, with complexity analysis
  • How clearly you communicate your approach, trade-offs and edge cases while you code
